You won’t find a friendlier, more knowledgeable team.
With the myriad of styles, options, fabrics, woods, transparency, measuring and installation, there is much more to buying blinds than meets the eye. Getting that look you want that also meets your needs can be a daunting process to say the least. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to help.
Meet our team:
Tracey McGinnis
Co-owner and Store Manager
Blinds have always meant business for Tracey McGinnis. Growing up, her family owned a dozen Slats Blinds window coverings stores. It was only natural that she joined the family enterprise after graduating from high school.
Today, with more than 35 years of industry experience to her credit, Tracey has a vast wealth of knowledge to share with her clients.
“I have seen plenty of changes in window fashions manufacturing over the years,” says Tracey, “and my interest and enthusiasm for quality products continues to grow right along with it. I love helping people find solutions for their home décor projects; and I absolutely LOVE being a part of this vibrant community!”
John McGinnis
Co-owner & Certified Hunter Douglas Installation / Repairs Technician
A true Islander, John McGinnis grew up in the Comox Valley. Like many others, he left the area in his youth, but heeded the call and returned. “The choice to move back was not a difficult one for us,” recalls John. “We absolutely love everything that this community has to offer and felt it was the best place on earth to raise our two sons and start a new business.”
Since opening the store in 2004, John has expertly handled the installation of both hard and soft window coverings, as well as warranty repairs and blind cleaning. He became Hunter Douglas certified in motorization, including remote and hard-wired systems, in 2012.
Michael
Sales Associate
In 2017, Michael and his wife Charlotte sold the Benjamin Moore store after 16 years in the paint business. Retired at last! Well, it was a short lived retirement when Tracey came knocking at his door and invited him to join the fine team at Blinds and Bubbles.
“I’ve enjoyed learning a different sector of home decor involving window treatments and all that goes along with it. Also, it’s been fun being part of the action at our new location in Home Hardware Downtown Courtenay.”
Michael sees many new and familiar faces there and he enjoys helping them find the perfect product to enhance their windows and ultimately, their home.
Samantha
Sales Associate
Samantha is a mom of three boys and joined the team at Blinds and Bubbles in 2020. After a long career in healthcare and administration, she decided it was time for a change. Originally from Toronto Ontario, she travelled overseas for humanitarian work and Vancouver Island was her last stop. She fell in love with the beaches in Tofino, as well as the rainforests along the coast but found the Comox Valley to be where she wanted to plant roots.
She is passionate about helping people, and loves interior decorating so it was perfect fit when deciding to become a design consultant at Blinds and Bubbles. Samantha has also spent some time working in the real estate field where she developed a skill set very helpful to many clients.
“I love meeting new people and helping clients bring their vision to life.”
